MY STORY

Shandell grew up in Northern Alberta with her parents and 2 sisters in a successful family-owned contracting development company. In fact, the love of building and design could be seen as a generational family attribute; from both of her parents, and grandfather to aunts and uncles, it has been in her life, always.

Shandells skills, projects, creations, restorations and design ideas are an innate part of who she is. When she was little you could find her tediously working on creating the most elaborate spaces and desirable layouts for Barbie and Ken. Her goal was to make their dream house unique, stylized and with lots of wow factors.

During her adolescent years, Shandell continued to pursue multiple art forms any way she could. From learning stage design, taking multiple art classes, building and decorating elaborate award-winning gingerbread houses, and creating award-winning outside spaces for multiple holiday themes, Shandell had a love of everything design.

She went on to be the team lead in visual merchandising and display layouts for several top companies in Edmonton over the span of a decade. Then 2020 hit when she happened upon a retired, thrown out, beautiful piece of furniture and this sparked her desire to start refurbishing and refinishing furniture and décor full time. By the end of 2020, from her studio, she was now flipping furniture full time and by 2021 she was designing and decorating whole homes and commercial spaces in the greater Edmonton area. Silver linings Covid.

Fast forward to 2022 where life has changed in many ways and not so many ways. From staging homes where it’s about appealing to the masses, to themed vacation rentals, one-room redos, or a favourite piece of furniture that needs new life, she is doing it all.  From clean and contemporary, to classic and refined, She can visualize a blank slate into a work of art. Whether a small piece of furniture or a whole completed space - the love is in the artful creations or recreations of a special project for her clients.

What sets Shandell apart, as a designer, is she never feels the need to push a particular style or feel onto her work or projects. She believes her greatest gift lies in her ability to morph with her client's tastes and her objectivity with different aesthetics to create their dream. The fact is she can bring anyone's design vision to light and that’s all 'this designer' needs.
